THE VISION
Daniel “Booby” Gibson is a professional basketball player who was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2nd Rd of the 2006 Draft. He played his college basketball for the University of Texas @ Austin where he earned freshman of the year honors.
During his NBA career Gibson was known for his clutch three-point shooting ability & played a key role in the Cavs 1st ever trip to the NBA Finals his rookie season. He still holds the Sophomore game record for 3 pointers made with 11 & is top 5 all time is Cavaliers 3pt. %.
The inception of Shooters U occurred when Daniel contemplated his role in his basketball journey and his desire to give back to the youth and foster a community that could benefit from his ability to promote a positive message advocating for a healthy mindset and active lifestyle. He envisioned leveraging basketball to engage with and empower the youth, thereby promoting both physical activity and mental well-being.
THE MISSION
At our academy, we believe in instilling confidence through dedication, meticulous attention to detail, and the mantra that "Shooters Shoot," emphasizing the importance of resilience and perseverance. Beginners at every level of proficiency have the space to work on their technique.
Through our mentorship program, we provide support and guidance to help our students develop into well-rounded youth, both on and off the court.

‘STOP THE VIOLENCE’ BASKETBALL EVENT AT GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO)
On and off the court, former Cleveland Cavaliers player Booby Gibson wants to give hope to kids just like him.
“I learned so much in my life through basketball, how to win, how to lose, how to be a good teammate, and so it teaches you things about life,” Gibson said.
Gibson said it was more than about basketball. He wanted it to bring the community together to have conversations about ending violence. “When I was about 12, my best friend was murdered in Houston, Texas,” Gibson said. “From that point, basketball became my safe place so that’s kind of where I thought of the idea for this.”

The Shooters U x Cavs Academy Shooting Clinic, featuring Cavaliers Legend Daniel "Booby" Gibson, was a resounding success, offering attendees a comprehensive experience to enhance their basketball skills. The event began with dynamic stretching and warm-ups to prepare participants for on-court action. Fundamental skills such as ball handling and agility were emphasized, while individual shooting stations provided opportunities to refine techniques like lay-ups, free throws, and bank shots. Engaging in 3v3 and 5v5 gameplay allowed participants to apply their skills in realistic scenarios, while fun shooting competitions added excitement and challenge. Attendees seized the opportunity to learn from a Cavaliers legend, taking their shooting abilities to new heights and leaving the clinic enriched with valuable knowledge and experiences.

Andy Garcia’s Elite Basketball Training program develops the fundamentals for young players in a personalized setting. These sessions are dedicated to 100% skill development and cover shooting, ball handling, passing, athleticism, defense, and other important basketball skills.
Andy Garcia Elite Training is a partner of the ShootersU Academy that contributes to the ball handling piece of becoming a great shooter, working alongside the organization to serve its mission and vision.
